This week in New York, television network executives are presenting their offerings for the fall season – and pitching those shows to press and major advertisers. The goal? To allow marketers to buy commercial airtime “up front,” before the fall season begins. About $9 billion in advertising revenue is expected to be raised at the Upfronts. “Netflix isn’t just rebooting Arrested Development—it’s revolutionizing TV.”

Thank you, Internet. Netflix revived Arrested Development — and Kickstarter made the AR documentary possible. The doc is a labour of love and the brainchild of a 5 year endeavor of two die-hard Arrested Development superfans, Jeff and Neil. The documentary will be available in May, just in time for the resurrection of AR on Netflix. Netflix outbid Showtime for the right to revive the much beloved show and agreed to pay about $3 million per 30-minute episode, about as much as it costs AMC to make an entire hour of Breaking Bad.

Following the success of Netflix’ first original series House of Cards, all 14 new episodes of Arrested Development will be released at once. The much debated bing-watching strategy to release the season in it’s entirety caused much discussion, but proofed to be the right move. Can’t wait.
